Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) and Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) Tears

The medial collateral ligament (MCL) and the lateral collateral ligament (LCL) are located on the inside and outside of the knee, respectively.  It provides side to side stability to the knee.   This ligament can be injured during sports or falls.  Without proper rehabilitation, the potential for future re-injury can increase.

How our physiotherapist can help

Our physiotherapists will perform a complete examination of your knee to determine the extent of your MCL or LCL injury.  If it appears that the injury is mild, the focus will be to reduce pain and swelling in the knee while working to improve your range of motion.  This is followed by proper strengthening and proprioception exercises to improve the stability of your knee and prevent future knee injuries.  Book an appointment today and find out how we can get you back to sport with confidence and to resume doing the things that you love!
