Lumbar Compression Fractures

A lumbar compression fracture is a collapse in the bony block (vertebrae) of your low back.  It can occur after severe trauma such as a fall or in older individuals suffering from osteoporosis.  The goal with managing compression fractures is to stabilize the area and allow time for the bone to heal. Dealing with a compression fracture can be quite painful. You may have problems performing your daily activities, as well as experience difficulty with walking.
